Live from Refraction Festival: Muqata’a

Experimental Hip-Hop Noise

Today on crackaud.io we present a series of sets from online audiovisual showcase Refraction Festival.

Muqata’a has been a vital force in Palestinian music for almost two decades. Under his MC alias Boikutt, he co-founded the Ramallah Underground Collective in 2002 and as a producer, his compositions have constantly pushed at the boundaries of hip-hop.

His set for Refraction is a lesson in dynamics, with intense passages of noise giving way to lurching hip-hop grooves, all interspersed with field recordings for an occasionally unsettling, constantly shifting hour.
