The North London artist’s album For You And I, released last year, placed her well and truly among the company on show here, and a follow-up EP, New Year’s Substitution 2, confirmed it once again.
Sometimes smooth, sometimes angular, experimental to the core and a joy to listen to, this mix is a further endorsement of James’ ear. As she puts it, “only 2.1% of producers are womxn, but 100% of these tracks are bangers.”
