New Year’s Eve is here and in honour of the occasion, we’re forgoing our characteristically downtempo Sunday Mix for a special weekend instalment of our flagship series, with Max Cooper at the controls. Bookmark this one for whatever you have in store for this evening – or any other occasion, of course.
In his own words, the innovation-driven producer and visual artist opts for a “psychedelic techno adventure” featuring tracks from JakoJako, Barker, Oliver Coates, Rival Consoles, ANNĒ and Venetian Snares. “Lots of melodies and beautiful feelings to get lost in,” Cooper begins, “but also lots of unexpected turns and mind-mangling soundworlds, and plenty of genre-hopping so you never quite know what’s around the next corner.”
Continuing, he adds: “It’s all grounded in my DJ sets and what I love to hear in clubs. So it’s nearly all dance music, but dance music for adventures, not for knowing what’s coming at the drop. It was a ton of fun to work on, with some 00s Firefly faves included along with something totally new and unreleased from myself, as well as some unheard things from my Mesh label in there, and some naughty bits.”
See you on the other side.
