Which is exactly what he showcases with his mix here, that comes ahead of a forthcoming release link-up with fellow purveyor of hard, dark and fast dancefloor sensibilities, Estoc. Speaking on the set, he tells us: “Like all of my mixes, this one is a great example of how I try to embrace intuition and contrast, instead of trying to seamlessly mesh things together. I feel like having fault lines in my mixes – also my DJ sets, for that matter – they bring key shifts to the listening experience. This mix is rough by my standards, but not in a messy or abrasive sense. I like how it seems to travel in many directions at once; it is chaotic but pushes ahead… a bit like my own mind these past months.”
He adds: “Living in Germany as a Palestinian right now is eye-opening, more than anything. All the hatred, racism and uncertainty aside, I try to focus as much as I can on music, my friends, my community, and anything that makes me feel like this struggle is worth it. My mix has a lot of breakbeats, some techno and some obscure tracks I felt like sharing.”
