Welcome back to the Pop Zone, a monthly series in which some of our favourite artists present a mix of captivating pop goodness.
Over the course of her musical output thus far, Kat Duma’s creative explorations have resulted in projects that range from the more industrial, noise-based end of the spectrum through to ambient, dub and folk-pop leaning tendencies. The latter of which represents her current sonic sphere, with her debut album under her own name due out this Friday (21 April).
For her Pop Zone mix, Duma delves into the genre’s otherworldly capacity – journeying from shimmering melodic ambience courtesy of Rachika Nayar and Lana Del Rey’s emotive balladry to dubbed-out bliss and avant-pop experimentations culminating in a chopped and screwed Usher rework. A true reflection of Duma’s own expansive, shape-shifting sonic output.
