The 170th instalment in Crack’s multifarious mix series comes from a long-time family favourite: the uncontested king of kick drums, Rohan ‘Randomer’ Walder.

Randomer’s music is tough and driving, but with a palpable sense of humour rarely observed in big room dance music. Smokin – the brilliant title track of his latest outing on L.I.E.S – is peak-time darkside electro, albeit made cute with cartoon vocal samples, B-movie atmospherics and a clucking bassline reminiscent of vintage Coki.

His mix for us is equally no-nonsense. We’re fast-tracked past the atmospheric intros and dunked straight into the mix: XDCVR’s banging contribution to the latest Opal Tapes compilation sets the pace, leading into belters by Broken English Club, Regal, Lars Huismann, and unreleased heat from Ilian Tape boss Dario Zenker and an unreleased collab with Hodge. An absolute must for fans of rowdy, pots ‘n’ pans club music.

Randomer appears at The Hydra Present Blueprint at Printworks on 18 November.
