Whether on blistering nosie-rave duties as one half of Giant Swan or delving into more spectral, dub-fuelled terrains under his own name, Robin Stewart is an adept purveyor of heady, industrial sonics that carry an irreverent playfulness. Under his latest alias RS Tangent, the Bristol-based artist expands on this, with his recent The Trilogy Tapes release When A Worm Wears A Wig offering up kinetic and sinewy sounds that pack a powerful punch.
In RS Tangent’s Crack Mix, an expansive range of wiggy beats and warped sonics abound. “It’s a quick fun romp through personal favourites, unreleased bits and more esoteric sounds that compliment the elements of the style I’m trying to amplify,” he says. “I wanted to travel from an emotive beginning through a volley of fierce tools and bendy tunes, into some wacky jacky funk and finishing as all things should; with the clanking of assorted Australian metals and the dulcet tones of one Dale Cornish.”
“Respect to all the artists (except me, obviously) for their game-changing, life-giving music,” he adds, “particularly the newer faces 1morning, AKWA, Conrad, Cleyra and VEL. Thanks for listening!” Press play and bookmark this one for your weekend antics.
