Shubostar is next up in our flagship mix series, with a “cosmic disco journey” inspired by a recent set at Summer of Joy – a summer-long, Europe-wide event series and youth-inspired project that hosted parties in cities like Vienna, Prague and Montenegro, which is where Shubostar played out.
In light of its intergalactic theme, the South Korea-born DJ and producer’s mix is every bit as irresistible and uplifting as you’d imagine, with Shubostar laying down tracks that speak directly to her taste both as a producer and as a music fan. You can expect to hear tracks from Todd Terje, Lindstrøm and Space (of course) interspersed with music by Brian Bennett and even an unreleased collaboration from Shubostar and Benji & Rina.
“The girl who was a big fan of Hedkandi’s nu disco started to fall in love with disco/funk/italo disco and then discovered Italian cosmic disco/Nordic cosmic disco, leading to modern cosmic disco,” she tells us. “All these paths converged into my unique style of cosmic disco, remarking this summer festival season.
