This week’s Crack Mix comes courtesy of Adelaide native Strict Face.
Just last week, the producer dropped his latest EP Pulsers. As its title suggests, Pulsers – which was released via Nina Las Vegas’ ever impressive NLV Records – was designed to put listeners’ stamina to the test with five cuts of body-jerking drum programming solely crafted, it would seem, for strobe-lit arenas.
The new record signalled a shift in Strict Face’s MO. In the past, he’s sought inspiration both on and off the dancefloor. Now though, he’s centring himself firmly in the club with a renewed focus on peak-time tempos and exhilarating genre mutations.
For this mix, we enter his personal crate as he blends recent favourites from artists such as Sputnik One, Jubilee and Simo Cell with several new tracks of his own. Chatting to Crack Magazine over email, Strict Face says his entry was recorded “one evening in October 2021 amid a precariously-stacked bunch of moving boxes prior to moving house.”
