Ami Dang is a Baltimore-based vocalist, sitarist, composer and producer, and the latest artist to deliver a mix for our Sunday series. Much like her own music – including recent album The Living World’s Demands – Dang’s set is hard to pin down yet distinctly her, skipping through styles and moods as it shines a light on her wide field of interests. A reinvigorating end-of-week listen.
Dang shared her thoughts on the mix and the inspiration behind it in the form of a quote and a haiku. “This mix was meant to be both relaxing and energising, otherworldly and entrancing,” she explained. “I’ve met many of these artists through my Baltimore music community; playing gigs and also working for New Music USA – a US organisation that supports music. My music community is so important to me, and I experienced pure bliss while purchasing all of these albums from Bandcamp.”
Then there’s the haiku, of course.
“It was so simple.
To buy music from artists.
I love. You should too.”
