On her cosmic, curative debut album Double Pink, And Is Phi ( a.k.a. Andrea Isabelle Phillips) explores metamorphosis, liminal spaces, and the multiple faces of love across seven tracks that take influence from the south London artist’s local, fecund jazz scene as well the works of assorted bunch, including Frank Zappa, Joni Mitchell and Madlib.
Gentle yet driving, moments of tenderness collide with psychedelic motifs across this Sunday Mix, which is made up of tracks from artists such as Ego Ella May, Jon Bap, Liv.e, Miles Davis, Saul Williams and Laraaji.
“My mix picks instrumentals and songs that bump up against emotional rises and falls,” says And Is Phi who called both Oslo and Manila home prior to her London move. “There are leftfield, heart-on-your-sleeve ballads to segues of funk and sonic meditation. It’s an eclectic mix because, for me, it’s always a wide conversation.”
