Sunday Mix: Astrid Engberg

Sunday Jazz Ambient

Danish producer, composer, singer and record collector Astrid Engberg is the creator of this week’s calm and kaleidoscopic Sunday Mix. Her new album, Trust, is a stunning meditation on intuition and new motherhood, with her mix also looking to familial connections and experiences for inspiration.

“I’ve been collecting records since I was 15 years old,” begins Engberg. “For this mix I wanted to slow down – like, really slow down and dive into the sections of my collection that I don’t play out or use in mixes, the stuff I listen to at home with my family on Sunday mornings. There’s some pretty epic stuff in here that you can turn on, and just let flow through you while doing life.”

Continuing, she adds: “It’s a blend of tracks that have inspired me, as well as my new album, one way or the other. From Midori Takada, Nala Sinephro and cktrl’s beautiful meditative sounds to Chassol’s field recordings, words on love. To me. softness isn’t always the easy choice but it’s like water for plants. Everybody deserves healing, everybody deserves softness, and I hope this music will bring you a little of that…” Sit back, relax and enjoy the journey.
