Sunday Mix: David August

Electro Sunday Jazz Experimental Ambient

There’s a holistic resonance that permeates VĪS, David August’s album – released last autumn via his 99CHANTS label – through which he imagines and narrates an alternative evolution of humanity. Awash with luminous electronics, haunting drones, kinetic noise and ancestral rhythms, the Italian-German multi-disciplinary artist sculpts an immersive, metaphysical world.

“I tried to keep things easy for the uneasy times we live in,” August says of today’s Sunday Mix. “Many old and new songs that brought a sense of nostalgia, but they never found space in other recent mixes”. Filled with dreamy ambient, woozy jazz and celestial melodicism, August’s mix here evokes something akin to feeling the warmth of an early spring breeze on your skin, with all the gentle hope and lingering brightness that brings. Enjoy.
