Sunday Mix: Dyani

House Sunday Afrobeat

Dyani is a Detroit-based, Haitian-American DJ, producer and composer. Last year, they released their moving debut full-length album Under.

Across the project, Dyani stitched an intricate thread between spiritual themes like rebirth, personal healing and an electronic foundation. Music to move your body to – freely, and buoyantly – while also soothing your soul. The project was shared via their own Chann3l imprint, which Dyani co-runs with their sister and manager Khalila Douze.

For their Sunday Mix, they explores grief and loss. “Music has offered me a space to nurture my inner mother,” Dyani says. “I lost my mum this year suddenly and unexpectedly, which is allowing me to truly see all the ways we learn to mother ourselves and receive mothering in so many different forms.”

“This mix is dedicated to those who have lost their mothers and encourages movement in the spaces of your body that crave to welcome and receive care.”
