Sierra Leonean artist and producer Lamin Fofana – who released an excellent album on Shifted’s Avian label late last year – turns in a softly energising mix for our Sunday series.
Bookended by tracks from Sweden’s Andreas Tilliander under his Mokira alias and experimental duo Autechre, and featuring artists such as Miles Davis, Alto Noto and Ryuichi Sakamoto, the hour-long mix is filled with buzzing synths, fluttering piano and glitchy ambient that intrigues and stirs.
On the mix, Fofana explains that he’s “not trying to say too much, [so] here is the mix – or rather, a collision of false starts and sequences from the greats. Thank you.” A serene set to drift away to this weekend.
