Sunday Mix: Malibu

Malibu makes the kind of music that sticks with you long after you’re done tuning in.

That’s not to say her work is earwormy or even forceful in nature. It’s quite the opposite, in fact, with the French producer and vocalist crafting sensitive, emotional-charged songs using only lightest of touches. Take her sublime debut record One Life, or a more recent remix package which saw Kelly Moran, Julianna Barwick, John Beltran and trance tear-jerker Evian Christ take on tracks from the collection. 

For today’s Sunday Mix, Malibu pulls together a selection of melancholic ambient sounds and soft electronic music, centred loosely around a theme of “heavy hearts, both under the same stars.” With an handful of her own productions – be it under her Malibu alias, or her dj lostboi moniker – nestled alongside music from OPN, Thomas Newman, Lorn and more, expect a poignant mix with a surprise or two sprinkled in along the way.
