Earlier this year, LA-based musician and producer Mndsgn (pronounced ‘Mind Design’) shared his third full-length for influential US indie label Stones Throw. Entitled Rare Pleasure, the album may well be Mndsgn’s most expansive release to date, housing 13 slick and soulful cuts that veer between jazzy and psychedelic, deep R&B and something that could easily slot into a soundtrack or two.
For those who’ve yet to check out the album, or may be new to Mndsgn’s work, his Sunday Mix offers an excellent primer into his sound and generation-spanning inspiration pool. With tracks from artists like John Fiddy, Don Blackman and The Ordells, it’s a groove-led and mellow offering built for the summertime.
