Moin are the latest artists to step foot into the Sunday Mix sphere, with a new set shared in the same week as a surprise EP, Clocked Off, for London’s AD 93.
The trio – formed by Raime’s Joe Andrews and Tom Halstead alongside percussionist Valentina Magaletti – describe the new EP as “outsider jams that rolled out of the studio. Part experiments, part sketches”, which certainly adheres to their low-key, experimental approach.
As does their Sunday Mix, which features a blend of organic and electronic sounds and excerpts suited to the kind of morning that represents both the start of a new day and the end to a long night. Subtle and understated on the surface, but brimming with surprises and intrigue beneath.
“This mix focuses on a deeper late-night vibe, slow music that still resonates over time,” said the three-piece, who’ll play Sicily’s Ortigia Sound System later this month. “We’ve always been a sucker for emotive downtempo music with a certain feel, nothing that tries too hard but still pulls you in. On the edge of melancholy but still confident in what it is. Hopefully the mix keeps you locked into that.” You know what to do.
Moin play Ortigia Sound System, Sicily, on 26-30 July. The Clocked Off EP is out now via AD 93
