Tina Edwards is a London-based broadcaster, DJ and music writer – and the latest addition to our Sunday Mix ranks. Her 50-ish-minute set commences with a minimal track called Lost In Thought from Manchester-hailing trio GoGo Penguin that sums up how you’ll be, and feel, post-listening. A gloriously curated, expressive and jazz-rooted set from the Soho Radio regular and Love Is Everywhere club night founder.
“I love to feel cosy; the music I’ve selected represents the kind of vibe you’ll find me listening to on a Sunday morning, or let’s be realistic… afternoon,” says Edwards. “I’m glad I was asked to do this mix in the autumn. I’ve put together tracks that give that ‘hygge’ kind of feel; mostly jazz – my big love – but there are also moments of dub and dreamy drum‘n’bass. I hope this mix evokes that feeling of being warm indoors whilst the rain and leaves fall outside, soothed and moved by music.”
Continuing, Edwards says: “I’m hyped every time November comes around; firstly—it’s my birthday month! Secondly, my birthday always falls during the EFG London Jazz Festival, so I’ll pretty much be at gigs every night.” As such, she’s included drawn for tracks from the likes of Tenderlonious, Resavoir and Charles Lloyd Quartet, who are also in attendance.
Tina Edwards co-hosts Queer Jazz at EFG London Jazz Festival on 16 November. A Love Is Everywhere party featuring Colin Curtis will take place on 18 November.
