Our final Sunday Mix of the year comes courtesy of United Freedom Collective, the self-dubbed “ever-expanding cast of musical artists and friends” with trio Robbie Redway, Mathieu Seynaeve and WaiFung Tsang at its helm.
The vibe is free-flowing, upbeat and exuberant as the near-two-hour set traverses genres and moods with funk, jazz, electro-pop, soul and so much more contained within. “The intention of this mix was to celebrate some of the music we were listening to during the creation of our latest record [Vast Oceans, Empty Skies],” Redway says. “As I was recording it, I had some friends unexpectedly visit my studio so it became more like a DJ set as it progressed. Hopefully it makes for a smooth and pleasant journey.”
“We do try to immerse our ears in lots of different genres and musical traditions,” he continues, “and I find making a mix a nice creative way of threading these ideas together. Hope you enjoy.”
