Sunday Mix: Waterbaby

Pop Sunday Ambient Folk

A “hypnotic mix of otherworldly loops and siren calls” from the rising London sister duo, who call upon music from the likes of Lyra Pramuk, Andy Stott and Laraaji for today’s restful Sunday session.

Their “dream-like voyage through electronica, folk and vocal experiments” also features unheard music from their upcoming debut album 22° Halo, out on 12 May. That makes this, then, a fine place to get an early taste of the new record and its influences.

Musing on the mix and its sonic universe some more, Waterbaby state: “The midnight velvet sky is pierced with pearls, the punk moon is blue and in full bloom, the music rises up from inside a shell and rides curled up to you on a wave, you catch it in your hand like a firefly and open it up like a crisp love letter forbidden, you lie back on the universe and watch as the sounds leave a tail of phosphorescent silver dust that slowly falls and settles on your eyelashes…”
