When Conducta came to us with an idea for a mix themed around travel, we were suitably intrigued.
The idea wasn’t completely out of left field – the Kiwi Rekords boss and UKG innovator has a new EP on the way, entitled In Transit, that’s inspired by touring and travels, but also the transition between turbulence in his personal life, and experiences with burnout and depression, to finding his feet once more.
Through his mix, we can see the kind of sounds and artists he’s been tuning into as he does just that: Pangaea’s summer heater Installations takes a slot, naturally, as does Bitter Babe and Nick León’s Delirio and Hudson Mohawke and Nikki Nair’s Set The Roof. An aptly-titled classic from Three 6 Mafia brings the mix to a close.
“The concept of this mix was to build a set that was inspired by being on the road. In this instance, I was travelling on tour from San Fran to LA and Portland,” Conducta tells us. “While I was in the US, I gathered some selections to soundtrack this ‘Terminal to Takeoff’ mix. Hopefully you can envision the smooth pass through security, an exciting purchase in Duty Free and a turbulent yet exhilarating takeoff – amongst other things!” Plug in your headphones and turn this up loud.
