Pioneer of Afrobeat and one of the greatest drummers to have ever lived, Tony Allen sadly passed away last week, aged 79.
In tribute to the late legend, South African DJ SNO has recorded this vinyl-only set of some of her favourite tracks by Allen. SNO hosts a regular show on NTS Manchester and counts a pair of signed drumsticks given to her by Allen among her prized possessions. In her own words, “the conceptualisation, evolution, preparation and delivery of this offering has been entirely inspired by the warmth, time and inspirational thoughts that Mr Tony Allen afforded me. I hope he is happy with my interpretation of his talent.”
