Jeff Mills at the Design Museum’s Moving to Mars exhibition

Space has long been a driving force and source of inspiration for the work of electronic music luminary Jeff Mills.

On a new 42-track compilation for his legendary Axis Records imprint, Mills devotes the entirety of the third disc to the great beyond. Exploring cinematic textures and astral tones, the disc collates pieces where Mills has used the cosmos as a compositional starting point – capturing the enduring thematic influence it has had over his work.

We met with Mills at London’s Design Museum to explore their Moving to Mars exhibition, a multi-sensory exploration into how the planet might inform the design of tomorrow.
