George Michael died of natural causes, a coroner confirms

George Michael cause of death revealed

A statement has just been released, detailing the singer’s heart condition

The 53-year-old singer sadly passed away over Christmas in his home in Goring, Oxfordshire. At the time, the cause of his death was unknown but today (7 March), a coroner has confirmed that the singer had dilated cardiomyopathy – a condition where the heart’s ability to pump blood has been decreased due to an enlarged or weakened left ventricle.

Additionally, the singer had a fatty liver and myocarditis – an inflammation of the heart muscle.

In a statement from Oxfordshire’s senior coroner Darren Salter, he explains, “As there is a confirmed natural cause of death, being dilated cardiomyopathy with myocarditis and fatty liver, the investigation is being discontinued and there is no need for an inquest or any further inquiries.”
