Despite the tendency to lazily plaster the tag Balearic over anything that’s light and breezy in tone, Joel Hood’s music certainly does make us want to kick back with a pitcher of sangria and dream of the White Isle. The North Yorkshireman makes spectral disco with a nostalgic nod to the windswept jams of The Avalanches, and it positively reeks of sunshine. The rising producer has also been tipped by Mark Barrott, who is set to release an album from Hood on his influential (and well Balearic) label International Feel in the coming months.
