Portico – Bright Luck

We’ve been fans of the Mercury nominated Portico for a while. Back when they were still called Portico Quartet we championed their records and invited them to play our, frankly unforgettable, third birthday party. Well, they’re a member down now and hence no longer a quartet but we’re still more than happy to be the first to announce that they have a new album on the way and from what we’ve heard so far it’s going to be a belter.

Living Fields is out now via Ninjatune and in the meantime we’ve got the premiere of the first track to be shared from the album, Bright Luck, for you. Riffing on the band’s penchant for ethnically infused contemporary jazz it sways and pulsates with a healthy dose of foggy ambient majesty underpinned by Jono McCleary’s distant vocals. We’re glad to have them back. Take a first listen to Bright Luck and check out the tracklist and artwork for Living Fields below.
