Joey Bada$$ has been arrested for assaulting a security guard at the Falls Music and Arts Festival in Australia
The 19-year old rapper was about to go onstage to play his set on Friday when the security guard, who thought he was an unauthorised person, stopped him to check his identity. According to police, Bada$$ then punched the guard and went on to perform.
“A 20-year-old man was allegedly punched in the face by a man while working as a security guard at the festival,” a police spokeswoman said in statement. “The man was treated for a broken nose and other facial injuries.”
Following his set, Bada$$ was arrested and taken to Byron Bay police station, where he spent the night in custody. The following day, he appeared in the Lismore Local Court and was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He has been ordered to face court again on 19 March.
