20 year old New York rapper Bobby Shmurda has spoken about his experience of being in prison for the first time.
Speaking to Billboard on Saturday (7 February), Shmurda refuted rumours that he’s been stabbed inside ( I’m good. Everybody knows I’m good. I’m chilling. We over here — we over here thugging it out, man,” he said, laughing), discussed the situation with his bail and revealed that he’s been in touch with fellow rappers Meek Mill, French Montana and Migos. “God makes his toughest battles for his strongest soldiers,” he concluded.
Shmurda has been incarcerated since 17 December 2014 after police raided the Quad Recording studios in Manhattan (where Tupac survived a shooting in 1994) and arrested him alongside 14 members of his GS9 collective. On 29 January, Shmurda and other GS9 members pleaded not guilty to over 100 charges including reckless endangerment, conspiracy to commit murder in the second degree, criminal possession of a weapon and criminally using drug paraphernalia. If found guilty of the most serious charges, Shmurda could face up to 25 years in prison. His bail was recently posted but then withdrawn. Watch the video for Shmurda’s viral hit Hot Nigga below.
