Ennio Morricone announces 2016 UK dates

Composer Ennio Morricone is going on a global tour to celebrate 60 years of being in the film industry.

As part of his European stint, Morricone will arrive in the UK on 14 February for a date at Dublin’s 3Arena before playing London’s O2 Arena 2 days later on 16 February.

Best known for his work on movies such as The Untouchables, Once Upon a Time in America and The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, 86-year-old Morricone took a break from live performance to recover from a spinal injury. These upcoming dates will feature a company of 170 musicians and singers made up of “some of the finest orchestras and choirs that Europe has to offer”.

Tickets go on sale here tomorrow (5 June).

In the mean time, enjoy Morricone’s theme for Pedro Almodovar’s controversial 1990 rom-com, Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down!
