Judge rules Mark E Smith’s lyrics incomprehensible

But we didn’t really need a judge to tell us that.

A judge has apparently been left confused in court case regarding ownership of lyrics to The Fall’s song Touch Sensitive. The engimatic singer, Mark E. Smith, is embroiled in a court case with former Fall member and Invisiblegirl Records founder Julia Adamson and producer Steven Sharples who claim to have co-written the song’s lyrics and performed an early version on John Peel’s show.

The residing Amanda Michaels said “Mr Smith delivers the lyrics in a manner which at some points makes it hard to hear the words.” adding, “I accept the contention that the line is not ‘And a Star Wars police vehicle Paul’s off’, but … the more comprehensible ‘And a Star Wars police vehicle pulls up’.”

Some the music business can be a messy one. In the end Michaels deemed Sharples’ claims “Not reliable.” Revisit The Fall’s video for Touch Sensitive below.
