Los Campesinos! predicted #piggate

The band printed a t-shirt featuring the PM necking a pig earlier this year

In April this year Los Campesinos! immortalised our Prime Minister, David Cameron, on a t-shirt. At the time the situation posed seemed somewhat unlikely – but sometimes, it seems, the truth is stranger than fiction.

As reported by the Daily Express, Cameron, while studying at Oxford University, “once put a “private part of his anatomy” into a dead pig’s mouth during a bizarre initiation ritual.” The allegation was brought to light in a biography of Cameron (named Call Me Dave) that was co-written by Lord Ashcroft. The news has spread like wildfire across social media sites, earning the event the title #piggate.

The Cardiff-formed band’s t-shirt, that refers to lyrics from their song The Sea Is A Good Place to Think of the Future, was printed earlier this year to raise money for the Trussell Trust, Refugee Council and Child Poverty Action Group. After collecting £6k for the charities in April, the band are now considering a reprint of the shirt that was designed by band member Rob Taylor.

Further to LC!’s prediction, Charlie Brooker’s dystopian series Black Mirror also foreshadowed this news, also imagining the PM performing a sexual act on a pig in the first episode of the first series.
