The made-for-TV feature, A Christmas Melody, sees the popstar as both actor and director
You might not think we’d stand for Mariah. You’d be wrong. We placed her album I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse as one of our albums of the year (albeit clinging on at number 100), describing it as a “luxurious opus” filled with “brazenly liberal uses of Photoshop”, and we thoroughly enjoyed her turn as a hard done by social worker in 2009’s Precious.
Hell, give us enough booze and we could probably enjoy the roundly-panned Glitter. Based on this exchange between Carey’s character Sylk and her love interest, we probably would:
Dice: Man, Sylk. That was amazing.
Sylk: Really? Did you like it?
Dice: I had no idea you could blow like that.
[Sylk puts her arms around Dice]
Sylk: [suggestively] I didn’t know you were so interested in how good I could blow.
Filth. ANYWAY, her next venture into the film world looks like it’s going to be an absolute cheesefest – perfect to crack open your third bottle of Baileys to. She plays a very well-lit music teacher who helps her student to write a song for her Christmas variety show.
Watch it on the Hallmark channel on 19 December, and check out the sparkly trailer above.
