Jeffrey Lewis shares streaming royalties

The singer estimates he makes 0.00275 per listen

Anti-folk singer songwriter Jeffrey Lewis has posted a spreadsheet showing a year’s worth of earnings from a number of streaming services including Spotify, Pandora and SiriusXM. While the statistics only really reveal what we already knew (musicians are getting paid next to nothing) Lewis does manage to pull one positive from the situation. “On one hand it’s cool to know about 77k listens, seems like a big number, even if it’s only paying average 0.00275 per listen.” He writes on Facebook, “Am I complaining? I don’t know. I guess so? Anyway, just interesting to see all the numbers.”

More dispatches from the front-lines of the modern music biz... I'm not 100% sure but I think this is over a year's...
