Kate Bush pays tribute to “truly magical” Prince

The famously private star has shared a heartfelt goodbye to her “playful and mind-blowingly gifted” former collaborator

Kate Bush has described Prince as “the most incredibly talented artist” in a statement published on her website. Bush collaborated with Prince in the 90s on Why Should I Love You from her 1993 album The Red Shoes, and she contributed to Prince’s 1996 LP Emancipation. Bush is also thanked in the notes to Prince’s Diamonds and Pearls album.

“I am so sad and shocked to hear the tragic news about Prince,” she writes. “He was the most incredibly talented artist. A man in complete control of his work from writer and musician to producer and director. He was such an inspiration. Playful and mind-blowingly gifted. He was the most inventive and extraordinary live act I’ve seen. The world has lost someone truly magical. Goodnight dear Prince.”
