New names added to ADE Sound Lab Programme

Richie Hawtin, Daniel Miller, Mark Verbos and Matador join the bill for ADE’s MusicTalks artist/fan forum

ADE Sound Lab is a free series of talks across the course of Amsterdam Dance Event in October. These will consist of masterclasses and Q&As with pillars of the electronic music community covering all aspects of sound and its manipulation. More names have been added to the existing list that includes Dave Smith, Jameszoo, Octave One and Francesco Tristano.

Richie Hawtin will be discussing the thought behind his new PLAYdifferently mixer designed with Andy Rigby-Jones (who worked on the Xone series of Allen & Heath mixers for more than a decade). As well as Hawtin’s masterclass using the MODEL 1 PD, the mixer’s capabilities as a studio/live mixer will be explored by Matador.

Musician, instrument designer, engineer and producer Mark Verbos will draw on his immense experience of performing and running his Verbos Electronics brand of synthesisers to give a keynote presentation. Plus Daniel Miller of Mute Records will bring some of his amazing collection of instruments (he famously owns the vocoder Kraftwerk used on their early tracks) and give a ‘Modular Basics’ session. This will entail a demonstration using a modular set-up, discussion of analogue synthesis with regard to his own career and questions from the audience.

ADE Sound Lab takes place 20 – 22 October. More speakers and events to be announced. For free access grab an ADE Card here
