The venue, set in a rejuvenated grade two listed building, aims to bring the vibe and sensibility of legendary clubs Studio 54 and the Paradise Garage to the Yorkshire city
Church is a new venue on Woodhouse Lane in Leeds. The project is the brainchild of Dave Beer and Back to Basics, along with Aaron Mellor and Peter Hook of Factory/Hacienda with creative direction being taken on by Beer. The venue includes an adjacent 500 capacity chapel which, along with hosting smaller club nights and live music performances, will serve as a bar and street food emporium during the week.
The club’s commitment to being an asset to the community extends to running the Back To Basics Music Academy, offering music classes for everyone from students to those less able and less fortunate. In a similar vein, there will be a member’s system that offers discounted entry and access to the club’s meetings.
The club opens with The Resurrection, on 8 October, aptly featuring Damien Lazarus. The initial run will feature guest promoters Good Life, Paradise and Cave Rave among others, culminating on 9 December with Jamie Jones.
