The Parisian club Babadoum are running a new Thursday night event ‘Merci’, where DJs are obscured by a screen
In an attempt to hark back to the days before the ‘Superstar DJ’ (thanks Norman Cook), Babadoum have started a new night where you can’t even see the booth. It’s not a new concept, the likes of Underground Resistance and DJ Stingray have been deliberately taking the visual focus away from themselves for a long time, but it’s certainly welcome. The club hopes to replicate ‘the original values of clubbing’, returning the profile of the DJ to the background and getting people dancing, together.
The first event will take place tomorrow night (Thursday 6 October) at Badaboum, Paris.
