Simple Things EXT. detail free panel discussions

Panelists and moderators from Boiler Room, The NYC Downlow, Crack Magazine, GRM Daily and Red Bull Music Academy will all be speaking at Simple Things EXT.

Simple Things EXT. have announced the line-ups and more details of their panel discussions taking place in Bristol’s Watershed on the 21 + 22 October.

Friday evening’s first panel kicks off at 6:3O PM and asks ‘How can musical activity support itself financially in a digital era?’ It will be hosted by Crack Magazine’s Duncan Harrison who’ll be joined by FACT Magazine‘s Chal Ravens, Ectotherm boss Courtesy, GRM Daily‘s Elle Simionescu-Marin and Boiler Room‘s Tom Wiltshire.

At 8 PM the debate will turn to DIY culture with Crack Magazine’s Thomas Frost leading a discussion on the changing landscape of Bristol’s music scene with a variety of local promotors including Young Echo’s Dan Davies, The Island’s Dina Ntziora, Howling Owl’s Joe Hatt and Dirtytalk’s Kerry Patterson.

Saturday will start early with the first panel kicking off at 12:30 PM. Hosted by Vice Magazine staff writer Angus Harrison who’ll be asking his panel whether they think UK festivals are becoming dangerously homogenised. Panelists include some of the UK’s most influential bookers and festival co-ordinators including Secret Productions’ Jo Vidler, Mixmag‘s Seb Wheeler, Team Love’s Tom Paine and Emma Thompson of A-Bound Festival.

Later in the afternoon Broadly staff writer Sirin Kale will take the helm for a 2 PM panel entitled Radical dancefloors: meet the groups reclaiming club culture’s progressive roots. Sirin will be discussing the role of collectives and networks attempting to harness the political power of the dancefloor with Meat Free’s Alice Woods, NYC Downlow’s Gideon Berger, Thorny’s Joe Bligh and NON’s Nkisi.
