Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds play Skeleton Tree songs live for the first time

Nick Cave has also given his first press interview since the death of his son, Arthur.

Yesterday (January 15) saw Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds embark on a world tour in support of their 2016 album, The Skeleton Tree, our album of the year.

Kicking off their tour at the Derwent Entertainment Centre in Hobart, Australia, the band performed Jesus Alone, Girl In Amber, Anthrocene, Magneto, Distant Sky, I Need You and Skeleton Tree as well as a number of tracks from Push the Sky Away and classics including The Mercy Seat and Stagger Lee. You can watch footage from the gig below.

Furthermore, Nick Cave has given his first press interview following the death of his son, Arthur, in 2015. Speaking to The Australian, Cave talked about the making of Skeleton Tree, as well as the impact of the accompanying film One More Time with Feeling.

“For me, going into the studio in Paris was not a good idea, and I hope I never have to do anything like that again,” Cave told The Australian. “It was only a few months after Arthur died. It was too early. But it just felt important that I do it. You know, life goes on and all. It was crazy. Terrifying, really.”

Dates for the European and UK legs of the tour are yet to be announced. You can revisit our review of Skeleton Tree here.
