David Bowie’s Lazarus to get virtual reality treatment

David Bowie

The audience will be able to experience the musical through VR headsets at the V&A Performance Festival

For those who’ve missed out, a recording of the production in January will be screened as part of the V&A’s fourth Performance Festival on 30 April. Details of the recording process are set to be revealed at the Lydia & Manfred Gorvy Lecture Theatre, before the audience will be able to watch Lazarus through VR headsets.

The late cultural icon penned Lazarus with Enda Walsh before his death last year.

Directed by Ivo van Hove, the musical was inspired by Walter Tevis’ novel The Man Who Fell to Earth. The cast starred actor Michael C. Hall, Michael Esper, and Sophia Anne Caruso.

Lazarus was first previewed in November 2015 and later ran at London’s King’s Cross Theatre from October 2016 to January 2017.

The V&A Performance Festival runs from 21-30 April. You can find more information here.
