Governor of Minnesota declares this Friday ‘Prince Day’

Admittedly, it’s just across the state of Minnesota but still…

Gov. Mark Dayton has announced this Friday, 21 April will be ‘Prince Day’ across Minnesota. The date marks one year since the artist’s death from accidental overdose at his home in Paisley Park, Minnesota. The day will coincide with memorial celebrations taking place at First Avenue in Minneapolis.

Speaking yesterday (19 April), Dayton said: “Prince and his phenomenal talents led an era of music and showcased Minnesota to the world.

“This day, we honor a magnificent artist, celebrate his great legacy, and thank him for always making Minnesota his home.”

Earlier this week it was announced that an EP of unheard music from the late icon will be released by independent label Rogue Music Alliance this Friday.
