For those plugged into the most insalubrious corners of the Berlin underground, the name dane//close should be familiar
Some will know his as longstanding resident of Sameheads, the Richardstrasse bar and basement club known for its forward-thinking programme of parties (and DIY artistic transgression), others for his appearances on Berlin Community Radio and Radio Rixdorf. However, it’s via his own productions that his rep travels the farthest, with releases on Noisekolln Tapes, Präsens Editionen and now, Power Station. In short, he’s become something of a cult figure, but don’t tell him that though. He’d hate it.
Now, with his debut album The Miniature Industrial Complex about to drop, we’re excited to bring his queasy body music into the cold light of day. Rockbox is churning, early morning music for people who get up in the afternoon, channeling the producer’s taste for all things industrial, sleaze-slow and weird. The NSFW video comes courtesy of Olivia Emes.
In the words of the producer, “same shit, different sound.”
The Miniature Industrial Complex is out 5 June on Power Station
