Steve McQueen to direct Tupac documentary

Oscar-winning director Steve McQueen is set to direct a full-length documentary about Tupac Shakur.

Deadline reports that the 12 Years a Slave director will be working with the family on the authorised project. The film will be produced by Amaru Entertainment – a company created by Tupac’s mother Afeni Shakur – and White Horse pictures.

When speaking about the project, McQueen said, “I attended NYU film school in 1993 and can remember the unfolding hip-hop world and mine overlapping with Tupac’s through a mutual friend in a small way. Few, if any shined brighter than Tupac Shakur. I look forward to working closely with his family to tell the unvarnished story of this talented man.”

This year will also see the release of a Tupac biopic entitled All Eyez On Me which you can watch a trailer for below.
