Artist Self-Publishers’ Fair announces 2017 programme

The one-day fair returns for its third edition on 8 July at the ICA

Artist Self-Publishers’ Fair will present its third edition with a host of over 70 artists, self-publishers and zine makers this year. Those lined up for the fair include Banner Repeater, Buried, Control Magazine, Da Thirst, Dick Jewell, Eleanor Von Brown, Hate Magazine, Good Press, Morbid books and Starship.

Helmed by artists Dan Mitchell and Sara MacKillop, ASP first began in 2015 and gives artists a platform to publish work outside the traditional guidelines of mainstream media outlets. Aside from zines, there’ll also be artwork and prints for sale, and experimental music performances.

Last year, in an interview with It’s Nice Thatthe organisers said, “Self-publishing appeals to artists and their audiences for lots of reasons. Possibly because magazines and most publications follow fairly predictable lines and are commercially minded, so there is little to actually challenge the mind. But when artists get involved, the rulebook is subverted and ignored.”
