Carhartt WIP release new skate film Azzurro

Lensed by filmmaker Ludo Azémar, skating is used to explore the Sicilian city’s architecture

Carhartt WIP have released the short Ludo Azémar-directed film Azzurro, in which skater Mauro Caruso travels through the stark city of Gibellina Nuova. Azémar’s neorealist aesthetic aims to blend skate culture with architecture and art.

The tranquil visual follows Caruso on his skateboard, using his journey as a means to explore the small Sicilian city, which was once destroyed by an earthquake in 1968. Gibellina has been described as “more of an open-air museum than a place where people work and live” and in the video, viewers can see the city’s rebuilt architecture and striking appearance.
