Jay Z announces new album 4:44, exclusive to Tidal

It’s set to drop on 30 June

Following on from Tidal’s ambiguous film trailer and sightings of mysterious 4:44 posters, Jay Z has announced that he’ll be releasing the new album 4:44 exclusively to Tidal and Sprint users.

The new track Adnis appears in a film trailer starring Moonlight‘s Mahershala Ali and Danny Glover. Lupita Nyong’o also appears in the film credits and it’s unclear as to how the trailer will tie into Jay Z’s forthcoming album.

Recently, Barack Obama inducted the Roc Nation artist into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, making him the first rapper to be given the honour. In a video, Obama can be seen praising Jay Z, saying, “Nobody who met us as younger men would have expected us to be where we are today. We know what it’s like not to have a father around, we know what it’s like not to come from much, and to know people who didn’t get the same breaks that we did. So we try to prop open those doors of opportunity so that it’s a little easier for those who come up behind us to succeed as well.”
