Beyoncé pens foreword to new book Prince: A Private View

The book is due out in October

A new book, entitled Prince: A Private View, is set to be released on 17 October this year, featuring photographs of the late icon lensed by Afshin Shahidi. It’s now been revealed that Beyoncé has provided the book with an introduction, in which she writes: “Truth be told, the word ‘icon’ only scratches the surface of what Prince was and what he remains to me.”

Following Prince’s death, the Lemonade singer paid tribute to the late artist with covers of his songs Purple Rain and Beautiful Ones. The two artists performed together at the Grammys in 2004.

Longtime collaborator and friend Shahidi has previously released the book Prince in Hawaii: An Intimate Portrait of an Artist in 2004. A friend of Prince’s for 20 years and photographer for ten, Shihadi has photographed many of Prince’s private parties in Los Angeles.

Prince: A Private View will be released via St. Martin’s Press and will include previously unseen candid and staged shots. You can pre-order the book here.
