“We’re going to brighten up the darkness in this world”
Will Smith and DJ Jazzy Jeff reunited for Livewire Festival this weekend, in Blackpool on 27 August. During their set of hits, the Fresh Prince and his longstanding DJ performed the new EDM track Get Lit for the first time.
On their performance, Smith told ET: “Now I got the bug. I was on fire last night. It was the first time being on stage in a while. I blew my voice out a little – I do that all the time. I just can’t contain myself on stage.”
He continued: “I hurt my knee on Summertime. All the way through the second verse, I was trying to do the leaning to the side [move]. You can’t speed, though. I leaned a little too far and my meniscus was bothering me.”
Get Lit is their first collaboration since their 1998 single Lovely Daze. Recently, Will Smith made an appearance – along with Kendrick Lamar – in Jay Z’s Episode One: Footnotes for ‘The Story of O.J.’ in which he discussed racism.
