The Icelandic icon is dropping the track soon
Björk has announced that a new track, entitled The Gate, is set to be released on 18 September. The digital download will be followed by a single-sided 12-inch vinyl on 22 September.
On the single, she said, “The Gate is essentially a love song, but I say ‘love’ in a more transcendent way. Vulnicura was about a very personal loss, and I think this new album is about a love that’s even greater. It’s about rediscovering love – but in a spiritual way, for lack of a better word.”
Furthermore, she’s revealed the celestial artwork for the forthcoming single – check it out in her announcement below.
Earlier this year, she announced that a new album would be released “very soon”. The as-yet-untitled follow-up to 2015’s Vulnicura is available to pre-order, though a release date has not been confirmed. The highly-anticipated album will feature Arca.
“This is like my Tinder album,” she told Dazed. “It’s about that search (for utopia) – and about being in love. Spending time with a person you enjoy is when the dream becomes real.”
